#DLW72 was ordered in 1954 by Ronald Strauss, a partner in the Strauss & Turnbull firm of London City brokers. The price tag was impressive : about GBP 8,000 ! (when a chauffeur's yearly income did not exceed GBP 200 !)

#DLW72 was one of 15 examples built on the long wheelbase chassis and one was delivered without the usual glass division. Curiously they are all right-hand drive as though Freestone & Webb didn't enjoy the same popularity in the USA and on the Continent as it did in the UK. However, this example features illuminated and mirrored bar with cut crystal goblets and decanters, wine storage drawer, foot rests, occasional seats and air conditioning. Actually it is in the same league as the look-alike Hooper "Newlook Style" design, incorrectly called "Empress Line" and today 11 or 12 have left the UK.
